Note the inscribed plaque on the front. In good condition with normal wear on the polychrome patina. Dimensions: 70 cm high x 49 cm long.

-Listed model titled “Vedette Marocaine,” estimated at €3–5,000 at public auction (Oriental Art, Islamic Art, and Orientalism) at Millon or Gros-Delettrez -

Louis Hottot (1834–1905) is considered one of the finest French sculptors of the 19th century. Louis Hottot took his biggest step toward success as an artist by becoming a member of the prestigious Société des Artistes Français; at the same time, Hottot exhibited one or two works at the Salon each year from 1892 to 1898. Oriental scenes were the dominant theme of Hottot’s work; today, these depictions of the peoples of the vast African continent, combined with his great skill, have made his works highly sought after.
