Art Deco Wachtersbach and WMF Design earthenware box by Christian Neureuther & Joseph Olbrich circa 1910 featuring a gilt brass frame with an Arts & Crafts motif enclosing the ceramic enlivened by a polychrome Modernist decoration. The overall shape is a creation of the ceramist Christian Neureuther (1869-1921), co-founder of the Wächtersbach art department. The geometric pattern bears particular influence to Joseph Maria Olbrich (1867-1908) who created many similar models. Good condition, stamped and printed marks under the base, dimensions 20 cm long X 12 cm wide X 10 cm high.
