19th Florentine Marble Bust Of The Venus Italica, Grand Tour

Canova’s famous Venus, on display since 1812 in the Tribuna of the Uffizi, became a must-see for Grand Tour travelers and art lovers throughout the 19th century and beyond, leading to the creation of numerous copies, both full-length and busts, in both marble and alabaster. Our bust dates from the second half of the 19th century and is carved from dazzling white Carrara marble. In very good condition, it features an old restoration on the back of the base. There is minimal chipping.
