Large Decorative Textile Panel From The Art Nouveau Period, Circa 1900, Made In France.
Large decorative textile panel from the Art Nouveau period, circa 1900, made in France.
Entirely handcrafted on a cream-colored silk background, this panel features a magnificent branch of chrysanthemums, an iconic motif of the Belle Époque directly inspired by Japanese-style art.
The technique used is exceptional: it combines silk ribbon embroidery in high relief for the flower petals with extremely delicate satin stitch for the foliage, resulting in remarkable realism and texture.
Art Nouveau (Japonism) style.
Signed “Floréal” in the lower corner.
Embroidered with antique silk ribbon and silk threads.
Dimensions: 105 cm × 50 cm
In good overall condition for
a silk textile over 120 years old. There are slight discoloration marks and scattered signs of oxidation from normal wear, which confirm its historical authenticity and in no way detract from the piece’s charm. The reverse side is visible and attests to the quality of the craftsmanship
