Magnificent 19th-century period fireplace set in the Louis XVI style, comprising a portico clock and a pair of matching candelabra. A highly elegant set, ideal for enhancing a classic interior or adding a historical touch to a refined decor; one foot is missing from one of the candelabra
Portico Clock: It rests on a rectangular white marble base supported by small gilded bronze spindle feet. Two marble columns, adorned with applied bronze motifs—lictor’s fasces and drapery—frame the movement.
Dial: White enamel, superbly painted with delicate garlands of flowers,
with black Arabic numerals and magnificent gilded, chiseled bronze hands.
The top is crowned by a musical trophy—a lyre and quiver in gilded bronze. Superb pendulum
Sun with a human face—a radiant mascaron.
Pair of two-armed sconces with flowing forms, adorned with foliage. The removable lampshades take the form of stylized pinecones. The white marble bases echo the clock’s applied decoration of openwork gilded bronze lyres.
In beautiful overall cosmetic condition. Beautiful original gilding with a light patina from age. The clock’s movement includes its two winding squares; sold “as is”—routine servicing of the mechanism is recommended
