Rare Louis XVI–Napoleon III-style oil lamp made of Gien earthenware with enamel decoration and a bronze mount featuring rams, late 19th century
A very beautiful and significant 19th-century Napoleon III-era oil lamp, exceptionally well-crafted and complete.
The spherical reservoir is made of earthenware from the famous Gien factory, with the brand name stamped in relief beneath the base. It features a rich, hand-painted floral design, enhanced by turquoise cloisonné enamel with a serrated border at the top and floral motifs in high relief gilded with gold.
It rests on a substantial tripod base in chiseled and patinated bronze in the Louis XVI style
The upper section is crowned with three remarkable ram’s heads in the round.
Fluted legs with decorative rings.
Base with claw-foot legs resting on a triangular base with spinning-top feet.
The piece is topped by its original frosted glass globe with fluted sides and a wavy scalloped neck, as well as its hand-turned brass burner with a knob.

Diameter of the earthenware reservoir: 20 cm
Base diameter: 20 cm
Condition: Remarkable original condition. No chips or cracks on the earthenware. Gilding and glazes perfectly preserved. Period bronze patina.
