A superb ewer (or liqueur decanter/vinegar decanter) made of blown crystal and finely engraved, attributed to the prestigious J. & L. Lobmeyr firm in Vienna (Austria), which has been in operation since 1823 and was a certified supplier to the Imperial Court.
This exceptional piece is distinguished by an engraving of extreme finesse, executed using a wheel and acid:
A phoenix with
spread wings perched amid leafy scrollwork.
Acanthus scrolls, bound sheaves of wheat, volutes, and floral motifs.
A very elegant interlaced monogram engraved on the body of the ewer.
Original stopper: Teardrop-shaped, echoing the engraved foliage motifs on the carafe.
Neck and handle: Slightly flared spout and a curved, hot-worked handle.
Viennese Neo-Renaissance work of great elegance and beautiful lightness.
