Geometric Abstract Composition, Oil On Canvas, Signed By François Viannay (born In 1947),
Oil on canvas by François Viannay, signed and dated 2013 on the back, featuring a geometric abstract composition of great graphic simplicity.
Against a deep black background, freehand white lines unfold to form a dynamic and balanced composition, where curves, diagonals, and architectural forms interact in a minimalist and poetic spirit.
The work is presented in a contemporary black frame that particularly highlights the graphic power of the composition.
Artistic & Historical AnalysisFrançois Viannay is a contemporary French artist who trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in the late 1960s.
After a distinguished career in textile design and fashion—notably through the Anastasia brand and his collaborations with the Boussac and Bianchini Ferrier houses—he returned to painting in the 1990s and developed a deeply personal body of abstract work.
Drawing inspiration from folk art, Anatolian kilims, Japan, primitive art, and Renaissance painting, he has developed a unique pictorial language in which geometry remains sensitive and vibrant.
Rejecting any mechanical rigidity, François Viannay creates his compositions freehand, through successive superimpositions of colored layers, creating a subtle interplay between structure, material, and space.
This work perfectly illustrates this quest for balance between constructed abstraction, the memory of forms, and visual poetry.
