Napoleon III-style Center Table, Mahogany, Marquetry, And Gilded Bronze, Late 19th Century
An elegant Napoleon III-style center dressing table, dating to the late 19th century, featuring rich decoration in mahogany, inlaid wood, ebonized wood, and gilded bronze accents.
The piece features an oval body with a top surface finely decorated with marquetry, enriched with ornamental motifs and fillet work. The lid opens to reveal an oval mirror inside and a storage compartment, a feature that allows the piece to be used as a small dressing table or an elegant centerpiece.
The structure rests on slender ebonized wood legs, embellished with gilded bronze featuring floral motifs, decorative drapery, friezes, and gilded finials. The oval panel is highlighted by gilded moldings and features a decorative central opening. The lower section is connected by a shaped crossbar, also decorated with inlays and fillet work.
The contrast between the warm mahogany, the ebony-finished black, the marquetry, and the gilded bronze gives the piece a striking and elegant appearance, fully in keeping with the Napoleon III decorative style.
