Chalice and paten – Empire period
A silver chalice in the neoclassical style, crafted using repoussé and chiseled techniques, consisting of three elements assembled with screws.
It rests on a circular pedestal with a fluted base adorned with three rosettes. The domed base is decorated with a cross and features Eucharistic ornamentation consisting of ears of wheat, vine branches, and reeds within openwork frames. The shaft features an ovoid knot embellished with lanceolate leaves, framed by beaded rings and collars. It supports a bowl gilded on the inside, which flares out at the top.
950/1000 silver, Vieillard hallmark on the base and the bowl.
Master silversmith’s hallmark : Gabriel Jacques André Bompart. Parisian work from the Empire period. This silversmith created several pieces intended for religious use.
The chalice is accompanied by a paten made of silver and gilded silver, engraved with the monogram IHS surrounded by a crown of thorns. 950/1000 silver, Minerva hallmark.
