A charming Japanese-style display cabinet, crafted from mahogany and mahogany veneer, characteristic of late 19th-century Art Nouveau taste.
This piece features a very elegant asymmetrical design, inspired by the Far Eastern arts that were in vogue at the time.
The upper section is adorned with an openwork pediment centered by a marquetry motif depicting a bird in flight.
On the left, a display cabinet with a glass door and glass shelf provides a setting for trinkets or collectibles. On the right, open shelves are embellished with dynamic cutouts and delicate pyrographed floral motifs.
The door of the lower cabinet features a finely engraved Japanese-style design depicting bamboo, flowers, butterflies, and a stylized bridge, enhanced with mother-of-pearl inlays.
The posts, brackets, and crossbars are richly openwork and carved, emphasizing the piece’s lightness.
The cabinet rests on four curved legs joined by a crossbar.
