Raymond Dierickx : “the Nativity”
RaymondDierickx (1904–1978): “The Nativity,” oil on panel, 51 ×70 cm, mounted in a large black and gilded frame, 85 × 65 cm.
Countersigned and titled on the back.
In a typically Belgian landscape, a crowd of peasants precedes the Three Wise Mento worship the newborn Child.
This wonderful Belgian artist was a true discovery for us!
Even when found as loose, dusty sheets, these drawings, once prepared andframed, reveal the full extent of Dierickx’s talent, which is akin to that of artists such as Nicolas Eeckmann, Fritz Van den Berghe, Constant Permeke, and other such as Anto Carte, depicting festivals, processions, and fairs in the grand tradition of Flemish painters dating back to the 17thcentury with the Brueghels, yet rendered with great modernity.
Otherfacets of his work showcase his fresco projects and large-scaledecorative works, often with exotic themes, while his early watercolorsreveal a symbolist vein with an elongated style.
We dedicated an exhibition to him (PDF catalog available by email) featuring the first works we discovered, but we’ve acquired many more since then !
In partnership with Galerie Lafouresse, we specialize in paintings of the Basque Country, the Landes, and the Arcachon Basin.
Please feel free to ask us for photos or additional information via email or phone.
More photos and many other items are available in our Pau store and on our Proantic website.
