Small Bust In Iron Cast Neo-renaissance
This charming neo-renaissance bust is in an unusual material for this type of object: cast iron. It is probably a fragment of one of these medallions in high relief from which emerged the bust that were made around 1830/1850.
Representing a young woman of the sixteenth century, perhaps Jeanne d'Albret, in hat with feather, small strawberry and hairstyle in a bun picked up on the sides.
The cast iron is hollow and fine, with a beautiful carving and beautiful black patina nuanced, the object was cleverly based on a block of blond wood, probably sycamore, by a craftsman who married the forms using an ankle for maintain it.
Height 9.8 cm, with base, 17.8 cm.
