Mid-19th Century Five Qing Carved Wood Panels
Refined set of five carved wood panels, embellished
with finely carved and ink-finished bone inserts, set in ebonized wood frames.
The five panels depict figures and settings in relief, with scenes of everyday
life and idyllic landscapes. Male and female figures, as well as holy men,
alternate among architecture and vegetation. This series of panels was used as
decorative elements in homes or temples; thanks to their refinement, they lend
a touch of class and oriental antiquity to any space. Chinese manufacture from
the Qing period, around the mid-19th century.
