Vintage 925 Silver Pectoral Cross, Mexico, Mid-20th Century
Elegant vintage pectoral cross made entirely of 925 silver, manufactured in Mexico around the mid-20th century. It is a piece of great visual presence, with a Latin cross structure and a very characteristic decoration formed by six silver flowers applied in relief. Each flower is worked with overlapping and curved petals, creating a very attractive volumetric effect that brings movement, depth and shine to the entire piece.
The design combines a straight and sober base with a very expressive floral ornamentation. The six flowers are distributed in a balanced way: one in the centre, one on each side arm, two on the lower vertical axis and one at the top, just below the bail. This arrangement covers practically the entire front surface and transforms the cross into a devotional piece with a strong ornamental character. At the top it preserves a wide triangular bail for hanging, also made of silver, intended for wearing the cross as a chest piece. Due to its size and weight, it is not a small or purely symbolic cross, but a piece with presence, suitable for devotional use, a collection of religious jewellery or as a prominent pendant.
The reverse is plain and allows the structure of the piece to be clearly seen. On one of the arms it is marked with the inscription "MÉXICO 925 TG-281". The "925" mark identifies the silver standard, corresponding to sterling silver. The reference "TG-281" seems to correspond to a register, workshop or Mexican maker's mark, although it cannot be identified with certainty. This inscription reinforces the Mexican origin of the piece and its material.
The general condition is good, with normal signs of use, light surface marks and patina typical of a vintage silver jewel. These details do not affect its presence, but rather add authenticity and character to it. The flowers preserve their volume and decorative strength well, and the cross maintains a very attractive image, with that soft and deep shine so typical of well-preserved antique or vintage silver.
Silver cross especially attractive for its floral design, its volume and its marked devotional personality. It is not a conventional cross, but a religious jewel with its own character, formed by carefully worked silver roses that provide relief, movement and a very distinctive visual presence. Its Mexican origin, the contrast of the silver and the symbolic strength of the cross transformed into a floral composition make this piece an ideal option for anyone seeking an antique or vintage religious jewel with beauty, meaning and singularity. A cross with great presence, perfect both for a collection of religious jewellery and for wearing as a personal devotional piece, elegant and full of character.
