Late 17th Century Altar Tabernacle With Saint Barbara
Elegant and rare painted papier-mâché tabernacle depicting Saint Barbara. The tabernacle features an altar podium, with a throne on which the Saint sits, and red curtains adorning the ensemble. The Saint is depicted seated on a golden throne, dark, with a halo and a book in her hand. At the base of the altar are two candlesticks, completing the ensemble. This small painted shrine, exquisitely tasteful and antique, can add a touch of refinement and history to any space. Made in Southern Italy, it dates back to the late 17th century.
