However, beyond the surrealist reference, the artist develops here a personal iconography drawing on older symbols.The work is based on the transformation of an early 20th-century portrait of a woman. The original model remains recognizable through her costume and posture, but her identity disappears behind an imposing green apple that now occupies the center of the composition.This apple naturally evokes the figure of Eve and the fruit of knowledge. The white serpent slithering in the foreground reinforces this reference to the Genesis narrative.
