Romantic Clock

A lovely vintage "romantic" clock
Restored, consisting of two parts.
The upper section, made of gilded bronze with a patina, features its movement with a silver dial, set within a "rock-like" motif in patinated bronze. An
elegant, sad young woman holds
a handkerchief and leans, pensively, against the rock.
The lower section, in gilded brass, is shaped like a "marker." It is adorned with two gilded bronze friezes featuring "Gothic" motifs. A scalloped crossbar, also in bronze, features ogee motifs and, at its center, a cluster of oak leaves. The whole rests on four small curved feet. A 'window' allows one to
observe the pendulum's oscillations.
The wire-suspension movement bears the "Pons" hallmark for Honoré Pons, a watchmaker in Paris (1773–1851). It is in perfect working order and has been fully serviced. The rear access panel provides access to the movement and allows for adjustment.
