This type of rifle was particularly used (and continues to be used to some extent) by the mountain peoples (notably the Miao or Mhong) of northern Indochina and southern China (mainly the provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou).

Functional mechanism.

The barrel is secured to the wooden stock by nine tin-plated iron bands and one brass band.
