13th-century Germanic medieval floor tile with a heraldic, Gothic eagle design

A rare medieval floor tile dating from the 13th century, produced in the Germanic style characteristic of this period.

Made of terracotta, this tile features an incised design depicting an eagle with outstretched wings within a circle. This decorative technique, derived from incised tiles, is typical of medieval Germanic workshops and attests to the craftsmanship of the artisans of the time.

Tiles of this type were intended to adorn the floors of prestigious aristocratic residences as well as religious buildings, contributing to the embellishment of the most important spaces of the Middle Ages.

The condition is good considering the piece’s exceptional age, with the motif clearly visible.

Dimensions: 13.3 × 13.3 cm.

An authentic example of medieval decorative art, equally appealing to collectors and enthusiasts of archaeology and history.
