Roman Phallus, 3rd Century Ad
Roman pallus dating from the 3rd century AD Dildos only appeared in the 13th century, before that they were objects, certainly phallic, used as talismans. Often placed in the fields, the phaluses offered the hope of a good fertile harvest. Dedicated to the god Priapus, god of fertility, son of Dionysus and Aphrodite.
