Reliquary Of The Curé d'Ars Jean-marie Vianney
Reliquary ("Encolpion" type) of Jean-Marie Vianney(1786-1859) Curé d'Ars, Patron Saint of Curés.
The reliquary dates from between 1905 (beatification of the Curé d'Ars) and 1925 (his canonization by Pius XI), as the handwritten paperolle mentions Blessed (B. J.M. Vianney).
Fragment of sewn cloth ayznt touched to the Curé d'Ars, on a red velvet background, sealed on the back by side cords.
Pretty handwritten nominative paperolle in pen. Original protective glass.
Genuine craftsmanship of fine quality and care.
The absence of the wax seal on the spine (cords only) is probably explained by the popular devotion to the Curé d'Ars.
Reliquary said to be "for domestic use".
Dimensions : 4 x 3 cm (excluding buckle)
Nice condition,
signal of slight superficial traces of oxidation of the metal ("silvered" brass) and some dust around the perimeter of the inner face of the glass, a classic in domestic reliquaries.
