"Mourning Keepsake - Hair Keepsake Burl Wood Frame"
Beautiful and rare mourning souvenir frame with a large funeral decoration made of hair, on a fabric background. Below this cemetery scene, a metal plaque engraved with the name and dates of the deceased. The photo of this man is centered there, surrounded by a gilded chiseled metal in the shape of a ribbon.
Impressive craftsmanship, now lost, combining multiple techniques.
Frame in marquetry burl wood. Original protective glass.
Dimensions: 10 x 17.5 cm
The frame can be hung by the ring on the back or rest on a flat surface as a photo holder.
Very good condition for this old collector's item. Note a discreet and slight surface rubbing of a few millimeters (see the last photo).
