Jacob PETIT also known as Jacob Mardochée was a highly renowned French porcelain maker in the 19th century.
His career began as a painter on porcelain.
He entered the studio of painter Antoine Jean GROS dit "le Baron GROS", a disciple of Jacques Loouis DAVID, as a pupil.
In 1822 he joined the Sèvres factory.
He founded his own factory in Fontainebleau in 1830.
His Rococo-influenced artistic style was characterized by bold shapes and bright colors enhanced by gilding.
He enjoyed great success with the 19th-century bourgeoisie.
From 1834 onwards, he took part in numerous exhibitions, winning several awards.
These stoup covers are both signed with Jacob PETIT's initials on the base.
