Table Pedestal Table Marquetry Marble Wrought Iron Rome Hard Stone Scagliola Antique Decor Italy
Early 20th century marble and hardstone marquetry pedestal table.
Decorative round-top pedestal table in marble and hardstone marquetry, mounted on a green patinated wrought-iron tripod base with scrolls. Early 20th-century work, circa 1900, in the taste of Italian productions with pietra dura decoration.
The circular top features floral decoration composed of a central vase with handles from which a stylized bouquet escapes. The flowers, leaves and stems are created by inlaying colored marbles and stones: deep greens, reds, pinks, yellows and oranges, on a veined white marble background. The highly decorative composition echoes the spirit of Italian trays inspired by the Florentine tradition of hardstone marquetry.
The wrought-iron base, with three curved legs terminating in wide scrolls, gives the ensemble a supple, elegant line. Its antique green patina accompanies the vegetal tones of the top and reinforces the charm of a winter garden, veranda or 1900s salon.
The object can be used as a pedestal table, side table, decorative saddle or small display table.
Condition: good overall presentation condition. Minor traces of use, slight irregularities on the edge of the top, fine natural lines of the marble and visible joints related to the marquetry technique. Some rubbing and marks on the wrought-iron base. See photos.
