18th Century French School - Plan De Versailles, 1768 - Ink And Watercolor

Very rare original plan from the XVIIIᵉ century, executed entirely by hand in ink and watercolor. The level of detail and precision of the drawing make it a faithful testimony to the state of the Versailles estate and its surroundings at the time.
Such plans were produced by engineers, geographers or draftsmen thanks to topographical surveys carried out in the field (measurements, triangulation and observations), then transferred and meticulously drawn to scale in the workshop.
Plans comparable to this one are today preserved in the collections of the Bibliothèque nationale de France or in those of museums.
