Second Half Of The 20th Century Pair Of "wassily" Armchairs
Refined pair of "Wassily" or Model B3
armchairs, featuring a chromed steel tubular frame and black leather straps.
The armchairs are original, and the tube caps are polished and in perfect
condition. The leather is very thick, stiff, and in good condition, with some
coloration even on the edges. These armchairs were designed by Hungarian
architect and designer Marcel Breuer in 1925 for the painter Wassily Kandinsky
(hence the name), becoming a symbol of Bauhaus design. The armchairs became a
mass-produced product in the 1960s, when Dino Gavina, after meeting the
Hungarian designer in New York in 1962, convinced him to reissue the tubular
chair. Finally, the armchairs lack a signature, which appears only on pieces
produced from the 1990s onward. This is a pair of tasteful and elegant
armchairs, capable of adding a touch of class and design to any space. Made in
Italy by Knoll International, in the ‘70s of the XX century.
