Late 16th Century Polychrome Stucco With Madonna And Child
Important and refined oval polychrome stucco depicting
the Madonna and Child. The mother and child are held in a tender embrace, and
in addition to the Madonna's typical robes, two halos can be seen. This stucco
dates to the late 16th century and is attributed to Tuscan craftsmanship. The
work was subsequently inserted into an elegant oval frame of carved wood gilded
with pure gold leaf, to which three polychrome terracotta angels, dating to the
late 18th century, are attached. This is a work of great quality and
refinement, capable of lending a touch of class and antiquity to any interior.
