Louis Mennet was a seascape painter active in Geneva, the Ariana Museum preserves from
him La baie des Trépassés, near Nantes, as well as a watercolor.
The work is painted at sunset and delicately from Cologny, on the south side of
Lake Geneva, with Geneva's recognizable Saint-Pierre cathedral in the background.
