Oil on canvas representing a view of Martigue signed François Nardi 1861-1936 born in Nice on December 7, 1861, and died in Toulon in 1936, is a French painter of Italian origin and one of the masters of Provencal painting, In 1909, in peak of his glory, he left Paris to settle in Toulon. As he moved away from Parisian and foreign artistic circles, his notoriety fell and he only returned to Paris once, in 1931, for his last exhibition at the Salon des artistes français.
