Antique 1909 Chester Sterling Silver 3 Piece Tea Set, Nathan & Hayes, Edwardian

Antique Edwardian three-piece tea service, hallmarked in Chester in 1904, is constructed from solid sterling silver. The set was manufactured by the silversmiths George Nathan & Ridley Hayes and includes a teapot, a two-handled sugar bowl, and a cream jug. Each item features an oval, rounded body decorated with a horizontal nulled or reeded band. The upper rims are finished with a cast shell and gadrooned border. The teapot is fitted with a hinged, domed lid topped with a carved finial and features a curved silver handle with integrated heat insulators. The sugar bowl and cream jug are equipped with cast foliate scroll handles. All three pieces are supported by plain oval collet bases. The interior of the cream jug and sugar bowl show a smooth silver finish. The exterior surfaces exhibit authentic hallmarks, including the Chester town mark, the lion passant for sterling purity, the date letter "i" for 1909, and the "GN RH" maker's mark. Physical characteristics include a natural aged patina and minor surface wear consistent with an item of this age. Approximate Dimensions & Weight:Teapot Including Handles H: 15 x W: 28 x D: 15 cm / 800 grams.
