Rebecca De Quin 1996 London Sterling Silver Modernist Fruit Basket Bowl 335.7g
Rebecca de Quin London 1996 Sterling Silver Modernist Fruit Basket Bowl – 335.7g, 39cm
A striking contemporary sterling silver fruit basket or centrepiece by renowned British silversmith Rebecca de Quin, hallmarked in London for 1996.
The piece has a highly sculptural, architectural design, formed from a series of approximately 19 parallel solid silver ribs sweeping upwards to create an elegant curved rectangular basket. The openwork construction gives the piece a light, modern appearance while still retaining a substantial weight and presence.
The ends are finished with broad flat silver panels with angular, pointed corners and distinctive stepped inner edges. The polished surface beautifully reflects the light and emphasises the flowing lines of the design.
Fully hallmarked with the maker’s mark RD, lion passant for sterling silver, London leopard’s head assay mark and the 1996 date letter.
