An elegant early 19th century French gilt bronze ormolu jewelry casket box of rectangular form, finely cast and pierced throughout with elaborate scrolling foliate and floral decoration. The front is centered by a decorative escutcheon with keyhole, though the original key is no longer present. Raised on four ornate stylized paw feet, the piece has a strong sculptural presence and beautifully reflects the refined craftsmanship associated with French decorative arts of the period.
