Bulldog Inkwell - Black Forest, Late 19th Century / 1900
Amusing carved and stained wood inkwell featuring an expressive-looking bulldog head. Its amber-toned glass eyes give it a lively, almost anthropomorphic presence.
The head opens thanks to a discreet push-button to reveal a brass and glass interior housing the receptacle for the ink.
Black Forest work, late 19th/early 20th century.
Good overall condition with light wear. Presence of a few old insect holes in the wood.
The leather and red felt collar is missing. A few traces of ink consistent with its original function.
Functional mechanism.
