Large miniature depicting Lord Nelson , Admiral Nelson after his portrait painted by William Beechey in 1801 , portrait painted here after the Trafalgar Victory which saw him die aboard the HSM Victory , ship shown offshore to the left of the portrait . Miniature signed on the lower edge of the pontoon.
The flag behind his hat bears the monogram of King George III and the 2 cords he wears are for the blue, the Order of Saint Ferdinand (obtained from the King of Naples) and the Order of the Bath (by George III).
