Beautiful Baroque-style gilded frame with scrolls, containing a watercolor engraving depicting the Virgin tenderly holding the Child Jesus.The text at the bottom (in ancient Italian) reads: "True Image of the Most Holy Mary of Good Counsel, venerated in the Church of the Augustinian Fathers of Genazzano...". The FrameThe frame is the most visually striking element.It is in the Baroque or Rococo style, characterized by large scrolls, acanthus leaves, and fretwork.Made of carved and gilded wood.Condition: There are several missing plaster and gilding parts, and some cracks in the wood. Requires restoration.The Back and the Handwritten InscriptionThe back provides the most valuable clues for dating:The inscription: It is a dedication or prayer handwritten in a very elegant 19th-century cursive script. The date is clearly legible: February 15, 1861.It mentions Mary as "The Counselor, the Advocate" and invites you to turn to her "in all your needs." It is signed by a loved one (probably "your Mother" or a godmother) as a gift for an anniversary.The frame measures 43 cm by 28 cm, and the miniature measures 20 cm by 13 cm.
