A dramatic and imposing pair of rectangular plaster plaques, finely modeled in bas-relief. The compositions feature a cheerful, dynamic arrangement of winged putti and cupids reclining amidst soft clouds, engaged in various allegorical activities (reading, music, and floral motifs).
The modeling is soft and highly sculptural, drawing upon the great European sculptural tradition of the 17th and 18th centuries and echoing the style of François Duquesnoy’s celebrated putti.
