Stéphane SAUTOUR (France 1958) Abstract sculpture, mixed media (resin and soot). Dimensions: H 24 x 36 x 36 cm (approx.). Insured shipping via UPS. Born in 1968 in France. Lives and works in Paris, France. Stéphane Sautour graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon and the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. From the outset, his work has explored humanity's relationship to its natural habitat, its environment, and the technologies that surround it. He also draws inspiration from philosophical writings such as those of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari on the concept of the rhizome. Inspired by the definition of the plant, the rhizome is an anarchic concept, without hierarchy, where any element can inspire or supplant another. From this premise, Stéphane Sautour systematically attempts to involve the viewer in his work, imagining catastrophic scenarios or a new vision of a nascent world. An environment in perpetual flux.
