The bas-relief, of exceptional sculptural refinement, is crafted from meerschaum (or carved stucco),displaying highly detailed workmanship in the drapery and the figures' poses. It is enhancedby its original patinated gilt bronze/brass frame, featuring a chased border andan openwork surround with leaf or petal motifs in a fluid, organic design.Period: Late 19th / Early 20th century (circa 1890–1910). Fitted with a suspensionloop on the back.Condition: Original "as-found" condition with a beautiful period patina.
