A splendid 18th-century miniature portrait of a gentleman shown in three-quarter view, dressed in a dark coat and lace jabot, and wearing a powdered wig tied in a queue (or "hammer" style).
The work is distinguished by the fine detail of the facial features and the delicate pastel execution. It is presented in a magnificent period frame featuring gilt-wood and a burl wood mount, enhanced by a gilded molded fillet.
On the reverse, the piece retains an original antique manuscript document (dated 1709–1712), adding to its historical interest. Excellent overall condition, with a beautiful patina of age.
