MEXICAN MARINE OFFICER'S SABRE based on the Spanish model, First half of the 20th century. 32682
Gilt bronze frame. Guard with one branch forming a full shell decorated with an oval medallion with the arms of Mexico. Long-tailed cap in the shape of a cracara head (emblematic bird of Mexico). Folding counter-keyboard. Wooden handle sheathed in black shagreen with copper filigree. Ferrule engraved with a branch of foliage. Slightly curved nickel-plated blade with gutters, length 72.9 cm, acid-etched on both sides: "ARMADA / MEXICANA" framed by military sailing ships and naval trophies on one side, and the Mexican coat of arms with a sailing ship and vegetal decoration on the other. It is signed on the heel with the maker's logo "COBE". Black patent leather scabbard with three gilded brass fittings engraved with geometric designs. Brass cap with piton and ring, engraved with a navy anchor. Central trim engraved with the initials "R M". Gilt bronze studs and rings. Scabbard tip finished with a lyre-shaped cut-out stinger.
