Candelabra / Centrepiece - Silver - Germany 1840

Sublime unweighted 800 silver candelabra or centerpiece, German crescent moon and crown hallmarks, WB silversmith for Wilhelm BECKER, a Cologne-based silversmith and jeweler who practiced in the mid-19th century.
Circa 1840/1850
Perfect condition: no dents, no indentations, no missing!!

Quadripod base forming lion's paws surmounted by bouquets of flowers, surrounded by 4 blank cartouches with pearl framing.
The center formed by 4 finely chased lion heads with acanthus leaf manes.
The obelisk-shaped shaft with two-sided engraved decoration of vine leaves, chalice and wine jug. Two stylized winged dolphins or open-mouthed seahorses complete the exterior decorations.
The upper part consists of a removable candle-holder (also hallmarked by the same silversmith) held by a threaded rod.
Between the large lower dish and the small upper dish, a glass bowl could be inserted to serve as a sucker or table centerpiece.
A magnificent object, in a perfect state of preservation, that will bring a touch of elegance and pageantry to the center of a table.
