Set Of 4 Gondola Chairs – Art Deco – In The Style Of émile-jacques Ruhlmann
Set of four Art Deco gondola chairs, circa 1925, in the style of Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann.
The ensemble stands out for the purity of its curves, the refinement of its legs, and the elegance of its proportions, characteristic of French Art Deco furniture from the interwar period.
The gondola-shaped backs feature a particularly graceful enveloping line. They are crafted in amboyna burl veneer with warm tones and a soft, clouded grain, enhanced by a high-gloss finish.
The dark-stained frame rests on tapered front legs and saber-shaped rear legs, bringing balance and lightness to the overall design. The seats are removable, allowing for easier maintenance or upholstery replacement.
The structure is sound, with traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.
These chairs are not new and show some age-related wear: light crazing, micro-scratches, discreet signs of wear, and minor restorations consistent with their age. In very fine overall condition.
