-Le premier tableau est un retour de pêche, des personnages viennent aider au déchargement desbatea accostés sur la plage.
-The second painting depicts shellfishing at low tide, with some fifty figures equipped with baskets and hoods busy collecting shells.
This oil painting counterpart is identical in format (65/41cm), presented in its original carved and gilded frame in excellent condition. Frame 91/67cm.
Each canvas is signed by the artist Louis Fréret, born in 1754 in Cherbourg, where the museum conserves some of his works.
In 1785, Queen Marie Antoinette appointed him her "painter of flowers" and commissioned him to draw the plans for the gardens of the Petit Trianon and the architecture of the thatched cottages in her hamlet.
These two paintings are on their original canvases and have not undergone any restoration!
