This painting is the work of artist Maurice Bompard (1857–1935), a native of Rodez in the Aveyron region and one of the founders of the Society of French Orientalist Painters. A student of Gustave Boulanger, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and exhibited at the 1900 World’s Fair.
Bears the artist’s signature in the lower right corner. Presented in its original whitewashed wood frame.
