Flemish School, 17th century, oil on canvas, work by Jacob Van Oost the Elder (1603-1671), considered the leading Bruges painter of the 17th century. During his training in Rome, he was a pupil of Annibale Carracci, where he was influenced by Caravaggio. This painting depicts the infant Jesus standing on a globe, holding the cross in his left hand. In the background, several cherub faces appear in a hazy, hazy manner, allowing the central figure to remain the focal point. The painting is in good overall condition; however, the frame is not original. Canvas dimensions: 81.5cm x 60.5cm. Frame dimensions: 96cm x 75cm.
