19th-century Borghese Bronze Vase
Borghese bronze vase, an antique cast dating from the time when this ancient vase was added to the Louvre’s collections following its purchase from the Borghese family around 1808. It faithfully reproduces the forms of the original vase: an octagonal base, a fluted foot, and a bowl adorned with a frieze of figures and garlands of grapevines running around the circumference. This chalice-shaped krater rests on a Portor marble pedestal.
The entire piece is in very good condition! The marble base has no chips! The bowl is neither cracked nor restored!
