This is a large painting from the 1960s by Louis Sala, an artist born in Lectoure in the Gers region. A student of the Bordeaux School of Fine Arts, Sala, a painter and sculptor, surrounded himself with a network of artists at his château in Cuq (Lot-et-Garonne), including André Cahour. Upon Sala's death, Cahour inherited a large part of his studio and created the Cahour Collection, from which this work originates. A geometric yet figurative abstraction on a wooden panel, this piece blends pictorial techniques with relief work, using wooden partitions and forms to segment the image.
