Victor Kabinda Kunkulu (born in 1927 in the Congo) is a Congolese painter associated with the Hangar d’Élisabethville studio, where he began painting in 1948. Inspired by nature, he is particularly known for his stylized depictions of birds, fish, and landscapes.
In “Birds and Snake,” two large white birds are depicted amid vegetation, accompanied by a snake. The black background, simplified forms, and contrasts of white, red, and green give the composition a decorative quality typical of his wildlife paintings.
