Jacques de Chastellus, born in Paris, painter and illustrator, painted Brittany in the years 28/35.in the years 28/35, attracted by the sea after a short stint in the merchant navy.He then moved to Belgium, in Flanders, where he contributed to the development of the Art Deco style.He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants as early as 1926 and received many glowing reviews from critics of the time (Revue Moderne, Libre Belgique, etc.).
A retrospective exhibition was held in his home town in 1989and a monograph was written for the occasion. His paintings of Brittanyin a very personal style, with vivid colors, are sought after bycollectors. Several have recently been exhibited at the Musée du Faouet.One of his works is featured on the poster for the current exhibition.
